Shut Up & Play, a new all-instrumental band led by electric violinist Deni Bonet and guitarist Chris Flynn, will make its official live debut at the legendary Turning Point on January 18.
Bonet and Flynn share a long-running musical partnership that has taken them from Mountain Stage to Carnegie Hall. As individual artists, each has carved out a distinct and respected career; together, they have forged a rare musical chemistry that blends virtuosic violin, masterful guitar, and the intuitive connection that only develops through years of performing side by side. Along the way, they have shared stages with artists including Cyndi Lauper, Richard Thompson, Warren Zevon, Sarah McLachlan, Ronnie Spector, and many more.
With Shut Up & Play, Bonet and Flynn shift their focus to a bold, high-energy instrumental experience built entirely around their dynamic musical interplay. For this debut performance, they will be joined by Gerry Rosenthal on bass and Chris O’Hara on drums, completing a standout four-piece lineup. The performance will showcase original compositions alongside a select number of unexpected covers, promising audiences a thrilling and unforgettable evening of music. Without a single word sung, Shut Up & Play draws audiences in through the group’s tight interplay, precision, and electrifying energy.
Opening the night will be the exceptional singer-songwriter Miles East.
